What being a student of communication and media studies means to me is learning very important information, such as theories, while still having the ability to be very creative. While being a communication and media studies student I learned different forms of communication and how people communicate in different ways, such as nonverbal communication. I also learned all about media. I learned about how media is useful, how it is not useful, different forms of media, and how we communicate on media.What I learned while studying communication and media studies has impacted me in a positive way personally and professionally. I feel like the knowledge I learned as a communication media major is useful in everyday life, because we are constantly communicating with people. Social Media is becoming more and more prominent in our every day lives, and will only continue growing and impacting us directly.
I concentrated on media studies while being a communication media studies major. After college I would like to go into digital marketing, so I focused a lot on social media. Throughout my college career, I completed projects that revolved around different social media platforms, and researched these platforms using scholarly articles. I have been able to create posts for my current job’s social media pages, along with running a social media page for a small business.

This assignment was for my Cross Platform Media Messages class my junior year, The learning objective was to create a radio advertisement for a non-profit organization in De Pere.We learned how to record and edit a radio ad. The target audience of this advertisement was citizens of De Pere or surrounding areas. The message of the ad was created with the intent to inform the local community of what their city has to offer. This falls under Learning Outcome 1, create messages appropriate to the audience, purpose, and context.
This Assignment was created for my Social Media Marketing class my senior year. The learning objective of this assignment was to create a paid advertisement for new donuts being introduced at a fictional donut shop, Buzz Donuts. We created two designs of this advertisement and used A/B hypothesis testing to determine which advertisement was more efficient. This piece of content was created with the intention of being posted on multiple social media platforms including Facebook and Instagram. The target audience of this assignment is college students. This is an example of one post that I created for a dissemination project in Media Psychology class my sophomore year. The learning objective behind the dissemination project was to conduct research on a topic related to media and informing your target audience about that topic. My topic was related to reality television shows and how it can effect viewers real-life dating scenarios. This Assignment was assigned in my Sports Media class during my junior year. The learning objective behind this assignment was to come up with an event that would bring more people in the community to a sports game and create a promotional piece of content to go along with this event to spread the word. The target audience for this very broad, I wanted to create something that would catch the eye of anyone in the community, but especially dog (or hot dog) lovers.
